THE ART CRIME OF THE CENTURY

Astonishing. Inconceivable. Incroyable. Phillippe Petit did not just walk on a wire strung between the Twin Towers. He danced, knelt and lay down on that wire, 110 stories above concrete on a foggy, windy day in New York City, 1974. (In bell bottoms no less!) The coup was dubbed "the art crime of the century" but what shines through in the astounding Man On Wire is the purity of the tightrope artist's dream and the innocence of the world at that time. Odd to think of the 70s as innocent, but compared to today perhaps they were.
